IT Champion invite you to join them for an event focused on the most talked about topic of the year: GDPR. In partnership with Sampson Hall and Securious, this breakfast workshop will cover everything you need to know as a business heading towards these new regulations in 2018.
There are only a few months left now to begin preparing your business for the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that become enforceable in UK Law from the 25th May 2018.
Many businesses are struggling to understand how the regulations will impact on their business and where do you actually start in terms of working towards becoming compliant.
Phil Sampson of Sampson Hall will begin his session with an overview of the current regulations and his talk will highlight the steps businesses need to be undertaking now to get ready for next year. He will also discuss some of the new elements of the regulation such as “right to be forgotten” and “data portability.”
His talk will be a down to earth, plain speaking discussion that will attempt to dispel some of the myths and leave attendees with a clear understanding of the opportunities that the new regulations bring as well as their next steps.
Additionally, Pete Woodward of Securious, an Exeter based cyber security compliance company, will be joining us to cover:
- The current cyber threat landscape and some examples of recent breaches
- What simple steps can you take to help safeguard your organisation from these threats
- The 5 areas of Cyber Essentials
- The process of obtaining certification and the benefits
- Contract and supply chain demands for cyber security awareness
- Building on Cyber Essentials as a first step
The event will be held in Burrington Estates in Exeter, and will provide plenty of time for questions, discussion and networking.
