A unique opportunity is being offered to ‘meet the funders’ on Thursday 15 February (7-9.30 pm) at the Two Bridges Hotel, near Princetown. The evening, organised by the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project, will bring together a range of bodies that provide advice and grants within Dartmoor National Park.
In the current economic climate taking business decisions is challenging, so understanding what help and advice is available is a good starting point. The programme includes an overview of agri-environment schemes and Defra’s recently promoted Upland Offer and boundaries grant. There will also be a summary of woodland and forestry support, alongside a range of other targeted grants and advice – from rivers and wetlands to traditional farm buildings.
Russel Ashford Chairman of the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project said:
“We wanted to host this evening to highlight the opportunities available on Dartmoor and to signpost people to further help and advice. It can be a confusing and complicated process so this is a rare opportunity to get up to date with current schemes.”
The event includes speakers from Heart of the South West (HotSW) and the Greater Dartmoor LEAF, both of whom offer advice and support for business diversification in the agriculture and tourism sectors.
David Hynd of HotSW said: “Our organisation is there to help develop businesses by ensuring they receive the right guidance to meet their needs. This includes identifying further sources of support and appropriate grant funding.”
The evening will include presentations from Natural England, the Forestry Commission, West Country Rivers Trust, Greater Dartmoor LEAF, Dartmoor National Park, the Environment Agency and Heart of the South West. Tea and coffee is available from 6.30pm and the presentations start at 7pm. To reserve a place please call the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project office on 01822 890913 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
