When the UK leaves the EU there will be immediate changes to the way UK businesses trade with the EU that may impact your business.
HMRC have continued to write to VAT registered businesses to let them know what actions they need to take now. If you trade with the EU you can find letters on importing and exporting after 31 October on no deal Brexit advice for businesses trading with the EU. If you also trade with the rest of the world, you can find the letter on no deal Brexit advice for businesses trading with the EU and/or the rest of the world here.
Update on Tariffs.
The government has published an update to the UK’s Temporary Tariff Regime for a no-deal Brexit. The government has listened to the concerns and needs of businesses and consumers and has made three specific amendments to the tariff rates published in March.
Importers must check if they will need to pay temporary rates of customs duty (tariffs) on imports after no-deal Brexit. You should also contact your overseas suppliers to make sure they are aware of the Temporary Tariff Regime.
For general enquiries about importing and exporting after Brexit, you can also call the Brexit import and export helpline on 0300 3301 331. The helpline is available from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
