The Heart of the South West LEP is pleased to announce the launch of a £1m Natural Capital Demonstrator Loan Fund to assist with the establishment of income generating projects which help to protect and enhance our valuable assets.

The Heart of the South West is characterised by its outstanding natural environment. This underpins the bedrock industries of farming, food, fishing and the visitor economy but it also supports the health, wellbeing and social cohesion of the population. It is the very essence of why so many people want to live, work and visit the area and they provide important eco-system services – carbon sinks, flood management, pollination, clean air and health benefits which all support economic growth.

This will be a two stage process, starting with a first round of Expressions of Interest. These must be completed and returned by 8 April 2021. The projects will be assessed on their potential and then 3 or 4 will be asked to submit a full business case by 5pm on the 30th June 2021. Successful  projects will be informed at the beginning of September. The LEP has made an enabling fund available to assist projects to build a strong and robust business case.
