South West winners of the first King’s Awards for Enterprise

The first ever recipients of The King’s Awards for Enterprise have been announced today (21 April), celebrating the achievements of UK businesses.

This year, 148 businesses representing every part of the United Kingdom and a diverse range of sectors have been recognised by His Majesty The King as among the best in the country awards.

The South West based winners include Axminster Tools for creating custom bench tops for highly accurate woodwork, Torquay-based Charter Brands Limited who distribute carefully selected value and premium spirits internationally, Scymaris Ltd who perform environmental studies from their Brixham laboratories to support the global registration of chemical products, Holsworthy-based Moo Free Ltd for their work to promote opportunities to people who need them, and LittlePod Ltd based in Farringdon in Devon won under the sustainable development category for their work with farmers and consumers to increase awareness of the use of real vanilla.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise was previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, and the new name reflects His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The Award programme, now in its 57th year, has awarded over 7,000 companies since its inception in 1965.

Applications for The King’s Awards for Enterprise 2024 open on Coronation Day, 6th May 2023 For more information, visit https://www.gov.uk/kings-awards-for-enterprise.
