To support hospitality, retail and leisure businesses in Devon, the Growth Hub is partnering with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to host two events in September which have been kindly sponsored by the Heart of the South West LEP.

Recent feedback from FSB has indicated that hospitality, retail and leisure businesses are facing challenges around the recruitment and retention of staff, accessing finance and procurement.

This Spotlight on Devon Hospitality and Leisure event will give businesses the chance to hear directly from support providers, district authorities and recruitment experts about the support that is available to them and how to overcome the challenges they face.

These events are being hosted in North Devon and Torbay but is open to businesses from across Devon. Please book using the form below.

Who: Open to anyone in the hospitality, retail and leisure sector

Sector Briefing (2pm – 5pm)

The event will open at 2pm. Refreshments will be served throughout and there will be several opportunities for businesses to network and talk.

  • The Growth Hub – David Hynd will introduce the event and mention some of the support that is available to hospitality, retail and leisure businesses.
  • The event’s keynote speaker will be Eifion Jones, Chief Operating Officer at the Heart of the South West LEP. Eifion will be talking about the Economic landscape for hospitality and leisure businesses in the South West.
  • Seetec Pluss – Seetec staff, Emma Blackburn, Employer Services Manager and Avril Bankes-Fay, Enterprise Development Integration Managerwill talk about recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Devon County Council – Better Procurement
  • SWIG Finance – Rachael Taylor, Business Manager from SWIG Finance will discuss access to business finance.

Workshop: Making your business attractive to employees (5pm – 7pm) 

This workshop will be delivered by Business Information Point and is available on the 29 September only.

At the start of the workshop there will be a brief introduction from the trainer and a couple of forms to complete before we get into the main content. Please try to arrive on time so that we can get this out of the way as quickly as possible.

To speed this up can you please have to hand your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) or Company Registration Number, plus any details about previous business support you have received. Your UTR Number is a unique number that you will have received when you registered with HMRC. It will be the last 10 digits of your ‘Reference Number’ that can usually be found on any documents sent to you by HMRC.
