A fashion entrepreneur is set to launch an innovative way of buying personalised clothing to a national and international market, with the help of Heart of the South West Growth Hub.
Mark, who runs Quelque Chose Ltd based in Devon, has worked in the design and manufacturing end of the fashion industry for 20 years, while his wife is an experienced fashion PR with a background in luxury brands.
Together they are launching a new e-commerce brand that enables the customer to customise a garment to their style, order it online and receive it within days. The brand name is being kept closely under wraps until an anticipated launch in early 2017.
Initially launching to a consumer market, it will enable customers to change different aspects of a garment – print, colour, fit and other features – to create a unique piece of clothing. This involves developing a new piece of e-commerce software to record the order and help the customer visualise how their piece of clothing will look.
Mark turned to Heart of the South West Growth Hub initially to find out what funding and finance options were available to him, but then found a host of additional support.
Mark was introduced to the Local Manufacturing Advisory Programme for advice on creating a new manufacturing process, plus support in applying for funding from the South West Growth Fund to invest in new technology and software for the e-commerce function of the business.
He has also been supported by Get Set for Growth, which has offered Mark invaluable insight into running a start-up, such as creating financial projections and business plans.
He said: “I had looked at various options before, but I was a bit baffled by the different business support options available. The Growth Hub service was incredibly useful not just in identifying the right funding options, but in signposting me to other business support locally.
