Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA) has engaged Wavehill to undertake research to better understand the breadth of business activity within the National Park. The research will capture representative views of the business community identifying key opportunities to address challenges and develop the Exmoor economy in harmony with its National Park status.

It is estimated that one third of all employment on Exmoor is in tourism, a third in agriculture and land management, and a third in other sectors. This research will provide a more detailed breakdown of this sectoral structure. Exmoor’s economy is dominated by micro businesses who often are not captured in official statistics for the area which are largely based on VAT, PAYE or Business Rate registrations. The research for Rural Enterprise Exmoor will look to engage with a range of these micro-businesses who have chosen to operate within Exmoor to report on their views.
