Exeter Science Park Celebrates a Decade of Innovation and Growth

As Exeter Science Park celebrates a decade since the completion of its first building, it stands at a defining moment in its evolution. Over the past 10 years, this 64-acre site – strategically located beside the M5 on Exeter’s outskirts – has grown into a thriving centre of excellence, attracting cutting-edge businesses at the forefront of science and technology.

Today it has evolved to become a collaborative community with a thriving ecosystem of businesses and organisations working in an array of sectors. The Science Park Centre is at the heart of the park. It is a busy place, with a public café, co-working desks, event spaces, offices and labs. It’s where we caught up with Sally Basker, who was appointed chief executive of Exeter Science Park in 2017.

Sally says: “We’ve achieved so much, yet we are only part of the way along our journey to develop a science park which will stimulate a knowledge-based economy, delivering better jobs, higher productivity and economic growth for the region.

“We have built some vital partnerships and I feel proud of what we have done in terms of developing the park. We are now poised for the next exciting phase of our development.”

Businesses based at Exeter Science Park can access experts in residence, business mentors, networks and a range of events, workshops and seminars. With state-of-the-art labs, high-quality office spaces, and flexible leases that allow businesses to expand and relocate within the park, Exeter Science Park provides a dynamic environment for growth. For many rapidly scaling companies, this adaptability is a key advantage. The new sustainable 142-room Zeal Hotel will further strengthen the Science Park as a go-to destination and the obvious synergies will bring even more choice and amenities for businesses and organisations based at the park, as well as those visiting the city.
