Grant funding available through Young Devon

Young people in Devon can apply for grants to help them to set up or grow their own business. The grants come from SWEF which provides business grants up to the value of £2,000 to support the business initiatives of young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30. The SWEF programme is delivered in Devon by Young Devon.

There are two main SWEF grants that you could apply for and a training fund for essential items to help access training or employment.

Start-Up Grant
Up to £500 for any young person (18 to 30) who is starting a new business or has a business that has been trading for less than two years. You will need to demonstrate progress with setting up the business and you must want it to be your main work focus in the future.

Enterprise Grant
Up to £2,000 for young people (18 to 30) with their own business that has been trading for less than 2.5 years. The grant is for costs directly related to the business and you must explain how it will transform your business. Your business must be your sole work focus.

There are restrictions on the type of businesses that can be funded and how the funds can be used.

Young Devon also has a training fund which provides grants to help young people in Devon get into employment or training:

Training Fund
Up to £500 for essential items to help access training or employment. This can include work equipment, travel costs or specialist clothing. Grants are available to any young person aged 16 to 30 who is entering training, an apprenticeship, or starting a job after being unemployed.
